 Parish Administrator Job Description

 

Overview

The Parish Administrator oversees the management of the church office and the Koinonia Center, welcomes all visitors, keeps the official records of the church, prepares various publications including a weekly worship bulletin and completes other responsibilities assigned by the pastor.


Work Hours

The Parish Administrator is a part time position of 25 hours per week.  A typical week would be Monday through Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm with an hour for lunch.


Salary

The current yearly salary for the Parish Administrator is $13,894.00


Qualifications

Spiritual gifts of administration, communication, faith and hospitality

Have strong organizational and people skills

Be able to multitask and prioritize work as needed on a continuous basis

Good writing, typing and grammatical skills

Experience using MS-Word, MS-publisher, MS-Exel, Power Point and the Internet

Have a sense of calling to the position as a ministry of the church


Specific Responsibilities


Administrative

Coordinate parish master calendar

Maintain parish records, manuals and policies

Schedule and coordinate facility usage with outside groups and organizations

Order all office and church supplies

Negotiate contracts with vendors

Oversee office budget and all machine usage

Open and distribute mail

Support and assist the Pastor, other staff members and lay leaders

Coordinate Sunday worship leaders and readers


Receptionist

Warmly welcome visitors to the church office

Answer telephone, route calls, keep voice mail current, update outgoing message

Assist in referring those seeking Good Samaritan assistance


Publications

Edit and produce, then print church bulletins, weekly power point presentations, monthly church council packets and yearly congregational reports.

Assist the pastor in producing the “Ministry News” newsletter.

Maintain mailing lists and congregational directory


Congregational Support for the Parish Administrator

The Parish Administrator is a part time position based on a 25 hour work week.  Lunch Hour is not paid.  Paychecks are issued on the 15th and 31st of each month.

A two week vacation is offered and will expand to three weeks after third year of employment. Vacation time is not carried over into the following year.

Paid holidays include: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day

Sick days will be negotiated with the pastor
